A Sound Framework for Altruistic Practice, with Lama Tashi
October 17, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
On Tuesday, October 17 at 7:00pm, join the Insight Meditation Community of Charlottesville and the Jefferson Tibetan Society at the Unitarian Universalist Church (717 Rugby Road) for a special event with Lama Tashi, a Grammy Award-nominated multiphonic chant master and Geshe (PhD equivalent) of H.H. the Dalai Lama’s Drepung Loseling Monastery, to:
- Experience Lama Tashi’s powerful chanting
- Learn time-honored approaches from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition to structure our practice around the aspiration to benefit all beings – including how to take refuge, set an altruistic motivation, engage in the Seven Perfect Practices, and dedicate the merit of our practice toward the well-being of all
- Participate in a guided practice of the Vajra recitation– a sacred and powerful mantra that can purify & transmute negativity and amplify positive energy and attunement with higher consciousness.
- Ask Lama Tashi questions and learn about his other programs with JTS here in Charlottesville this fall, including a five-session series on A Sacred and Sound Approach to Happiness and his 8-week series on Tibetan Yoga and Meditation Practices for Serenity and Transformation.
Suggested donation for this special event: $15. Please feel free to bring a kata (traditional offering scarf) to present to Lama Tashi, if you would like.
